A Sligo Leitrim TD says Fine Gael’s plan to restructure the country’s health and social care system into six separate regions has been done with no consultation with patients and health care professionals.
Counties Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal will to be grouped along with Roscommon, Mayo and Galway to form one of the new HSE’s six service regions.
The announcement has been made by the Health Minister Simon Harris who says the HSE was never fit for purpose.
Fianna Fail TD Marc MacSharry says home care needs to be the immediate concern of the health minister and the HSE.
