Tullaghan residents still waiting on removal of whale

Health and safety concerns have been raised in Tullaghan in County Leitrim over a beached whale that has been washed up on the beach and who’s carcass remains on the strand well over three weeks since the initial discovery was made.

Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Justin Warnock raised the matter at this week’s Manorhamilton Municipal District meeting.

Councillor Warnock says the recent warm weather has sped up the decomposing process and as result locals are concerned about the impact it’s having on local residents.
