Ceremony taking place in Sligo today to mark National Day of Commemoration



An event is taking place in Sligo today to mark the National Day of Commemoration.

Ceremonies are being held around the country to remember Irish men and women who died in wars or while serving with the UN.

One of 7 such events will be held at City Hall, Quay Street, Sligo at 1.30pm this afternoon with attendees asked to be in their seats by 1.15pm.

While the Taoiseach and President will be attending Collins Barracks in Dublin where a wreath will be laid.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council, Fianna Fail Councillor Tom MacSharry, says its a time to honour those who have died in service of the country.
