Fine Gael Senator Frank Feighan has declared his interest in running as a candidate in the next general election in the Sligo/Leitrim constituency.
It’s after former Fine Gael TD and Senator Gerry Reynolds withdrew from the race earlier this week.
Mr Reynolds said he had come to the conclusion that it would not be possible to continue to expand his business interests and serve the people of the constituency as a member of the Dail.
Senator Feighan says he has the experience needed to secure a second seat for the party.
