Sligo Civil Defence are to receive a new jeep for their fleet.
16 Ford Rangers will be joining different units across the country with Co. Sligo being one of them.
It’s part of an allocation of €500,000 from the dormant accounts fund by the Department of Community and Rural Development with the vehicles costing €31,000 each.
The Civil Defence are called upon nationally in assisting local authorities such as the Gardaí and Ambulance Services and were vital during Storm Ophelia and Storm Emma over the last couple of years.
Welcoming the news, Sligo-Leitrim FG TD Tony McLoughlin says the work the Civil Defence carry out is fantastic.
