Abbvie to buy Botox company Allergan for $63b



Drug Company Abb-Vie which has two facilities in Sligo and Manorhamilton has said today it would buy Botox-maker Allergan for about $63 billion.

Abb-Vie have made no secret of it’s plans to diversify its portfolio in recent times.

AbbVie chief executive Richard Gonzalez, will helm the combined company and remain chairman and chief executive up until 2023, the companies have confirmed.

The ESB are appearing before an Oireachtas committee today to discuss the National Broadband Plan.

The communications committee is continuing its investigation into the tendering process for the project.

Yesterday, Eir said it could roll-out the plan for one billion euro – up to three times cheaper than the proposed deal.

The ESB also pulled out of the bidding process, which Fianna Fáil’s communications spokesman Timmy Dooley says was flawed:
