An Post requested to extend closing date for Kilcar Post Office

An Post has been requested to extend the proposed closing date for Kilcar Post Office.

Three Donegal TD’s, Fianna Fail’s Pat the Cope Gallagher, Sinn Fein’s Pearse Doherty and Independent Thomas Pringle have sent an letter to An Post seeking the closure be extended by 6 months.

They say this would would give sufficient time to the Local Action Committee to make submissions and afford them the same opportunity as others when the closures were announced last year.

The TDs met Minister of State at the Department of Communications, Sean Canney and made an appeal to him to support their request for an extension.

It was announced last week the post office is to close at the end of the month as the current post master is retiring.
