Kilcar residents stand against post office closure

An Post is proposing to move its services five kilometres from one post office to another in South Donegal — but local people are having none of it.

Kilcar Post Office is due to close at the end of this month with the retirement of the post master there.

The nearest post office is five kilometres away in Carrick.

But locals say a post office more than a place that sells stamps.

The people of Kilcar in South Donegal will decided tonight (Monday) on their next move in the effort to keep their local post office open.

A public meeting is to take place tonight in Kilcar to discuss the issue.

Sean O Beirne is PRO of Kilcar Community Council.
