Motorist found travelling on N4 at 145km/hr in a 100km zone

Gardai are appealing to motorists to slow down after a driver was detected travelling at a speed of 145kmh in a 100 kmh zone on the N4 near Castlebaldwin, Co Sligo, yesterday.

The driver will be receiving a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice in the post in the coming days with an €80 Fine and 3 Penalty Points.

Gardai in Donegal are also out checking speed.

The road policing unit at Letterkenny Garda station conducted a number of checkpoints over the past few days at different locations, with one driver in the Kilmacrennan area detected travelling at 122kph in a 100kph zone — and he then failed the roadside breathtest.

That driver will now receive a fine for speeding, drink driving and faces a 3 month ban.

Gardai in the region are appealing to people to ‘slow down and arrive alive.’
