Pringle tells Dail Donegal wants to say ‘No’ to mining permanently

The Dail has been told that communities in Donegal want to say ‘no’ to mining permanently in the county.

Independent TD for Donegal Thomas Pringle was speaking following the withdrawal by Great Glen Resources of its application for an exploratory prospecting licence in the Glenfin area of Donegal.

He raised the issue with the Minister for Communications Climate Action and the Environment Richard Bruton during Leaders’ Questions.

Deputy Pringle says despite Great Glen Resources withdrawal, there is still an open call for applications for a prospecting licence until the end of this week – which means communities in Donegal are still vulnerable.

Minister Bruton had this response for Deputy Pringle when asked if he would cease the granting of prospecting licences.
