There is shock in the community of Kilcar this morning with announcement that the only Post Office in the area is due to close at end of this month.
The decision comes many months after the multiple closures of post offices throughout Sligo and Donegal.
It’s understood the current postmaster is set to retire at the end of June.
People will be now be forced to travel to Killbeggs or Carrick for their postal services.
Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher says based on pervious experience it seems pointless but the community of Kilcar must make every effort to save their post office.
