Final hurdle cleared for Lough Talt treatment plant work to begin, says Scanlon

The final hurdle has been cleared to enable Irish Water proceed with its work on upgrading the Lough Talt Water Treatment Plant in South Sligo.

About 13,000 consumers in the area have been on a boiled water notice for some time.

Last month, Sligo County Council granted permission but a month had to elapse in case there were any appeals or objections.

Sligo/Leitrim TD Eamon Scanlon says An Bord Pleanala has now issued the final grant of permission for the work to go ahead.
