Protest planned in Sligo against Trump’s visit to Ireland

A protest is being planned in Sligo against the US president’s visit to Ireland.

The ‘United Against Racism’ organisation in Sligo is seeking members of the public to come out in support of the demonstration.

It will take place this Thursday at 6pm at the Famine Memorial at the Quay St car park in Sligo and will coincide with several other demonstrations across the country.

Donal Trump is scheduled to arrive into Shannon airport late on Wednesday afternoon where he will use his Doonbeg golf resort as a base during the second half of his trip to Europe.

Nigel Gallagher of People Before Profit and the United Against Racism group says Mr Trump is not welcome here.

Mr Gallagher says he feels the Irish Government should not have been so welcoming of President’s Trump.
