Gaynor Cup joy for Sligo-Leitrim under 13 girls



Sligo-Leitrim girls under 13 soccer team won the FAI national Gaynor Cup in emphatic fashion at the University of Limerick on Monday.

The girls from the North West beat Dublin side MGL North 3-0 in the final to lift one of Irish underage football’s most prestigious pieces of silverware.

It was a fiting recognition for the team who had topped their group after victories against Inishowen, North Tipperary and Galway.

In Monday’s final, two first-half goals from Orna Murphy and a second-half penalty from Keeva Flynn sealed victory for Sligo-Leitrim.
