Sligo hurlers qualify for Nicky Rackard semi-finals

Sligo hurlers drew 2-16 to 1-19 in an eventful Nicky Rackard Cup Group 2 game at Scarden on Saturday to finish top of their group and qualify for the semi-finals of the competition.

Listen back to Ocean FM Sport’s commentary of the game (in association with Shoot The Crows, Sligo) as described by Liam Maloney and Darragh Cox:

Sligo began the game very impressively. Two Gerard O’Kelly-Lynch goals helped them establish a 2-13 to 0-7 half-time lead.

But Mayo were a different team in the second half and came right back into the game. Indeed, the visitors had a free to clinch victory in added time, but it was sent wide.

The result eliminates Mayo from the competition.

Sligo finish top of Group 2 with two wins and a draw from their three matches. Tyrone are also through to the last four after a 2-21 to 1-17 win against Louth in Saturday’s other Group 2 game.
