Fine Gael happy with Sligo local election performance

Fine Gael in Sligo says it got a good result in the local elections, both for the party overall and for its nominated general election candidate, Sinead Maguire.

The party points out that it has doubled its representation on Sligo County Council.

And it insists that contrary to some reports, the performance of Cllr Maguire was particularly good considering changes to the boundaries of local electoral areas since the last election.

Fine Gael’s director of elections in Sligo/Leitrim, Enda Candon, says Cllr Maguire polled very well in many polling booths throughout the entire Strandhill region.
