Grange’s Mona McSharry set a new Irish record for women’s 50 metres freestyle last Sunday night at the 2019 Glasgow International Swim Meet.
She won the event with a lifetime best of 26.92 this evening.
The 18-year-old’s time beat the previous Irish national standard of 26.99 set by Shauna O’Briens back in 2016. McSharry becomes just the second Irish female ever to dip under the 27-second threshold in the 50m fly event.
