Greenway from Collooney to Charlestown would ‘create jobs, promote healthy living’

A local election candidate says a creating a greenway on the closed railway line between Collooney and Charlestown would create a significant number of jobs in the area.

Fianna Fail candidate in the Ballymote Tubbercurry area, Romuald Mullarkey says greenways help generate jobs and encourage healthy living.

Mr Mullarkey, who is a former president of the Tubbercurry Chamber of Commerce, says greenways quickly pay back on national investment and all income generated is retained locally.

He says placing South Sligo on a national greenway network is too good an opportunity to miss out on.
