Sligo out-goaled by Galway at Markievicz Park

Two goals in one second-half minute paved the way for Galway’s 3-11 to 0-7 win against Paul Taylor’s Sligo in Sunday’s Connacht senior football championship semi-final at Markievicz Park.

The win sets up another Connacht final appearance for Kevin Walsh’s side against either Roscommon or Mayo on June 16th.

Sligo performed well enough in the first half and trailed by just two points at half-time 0-5 to 0-3.

But two second-half goals inside a minute from Gary Silke and Johnny Heaney put daylight between the teams and Martin Farragher’s goal in the closing quarter ensured the margin of victory was comprehensive.

For Sligo, round two of the All-Ireland football qualifiers now beckons.
