Brexit beef package must ‘not forget primary suckler-cow producers in the north west’

The Sligo-based president of the Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Association says the fifty million euro EU Brexit fund for beef producers — with fifty million more in matching funding expected from the government — must not forget primary suckler cow farmers in the north west.

Colm O Donnell says farmers in peripheral areas like the north west cannot diversify into other areas.

He says the funding package must be fair, and not one for just beef finishers selling to the factories.
