There are claims more resources are needed to deal with staff shortages at Sligo University Hospital.
It follows news of possible recuritment restriction on some non-critical replacement posts within the Saolta University Healthcare Group.
A Fianna Fáil local election candidate for the Ballymote area says there was a commitment twelve months ago to increase bed numbers at the hospital but this has not yet materialised.
Cllr. Keith Henry says extra resources are badly needed in the hospital and the health minister should address this now before lives are put at risk.
