Candidate proposes ‘rates alleviation scheme’



A Sligo local election candidate is calling for a rates alleviation scheme for small and micro businesses when they start off.

Fine Gael candidate Blaine Gaffney says such businesses would only be paying the full amount of rates after two-and-a-half years.

He says the legislation is currently going through the Oireachtas to allow such a move.
