Public warned of cold water temperatures ahead of Bank Holiday



Members of the public across the north west are being warned that water temperatures are still cold – even though sunshine is promised for the Bank Holiday.

Irish Water Safety says an average of five people drown EVERY two weeks in Ireland.

They’re urging swimmers, sailors and anglers to be careful if visiting the coast and inland waterways this weekend.

Spokesperson Roger Sweeney says cold water shock and hypothermia are a deadly combination.
