POA conference in Sligo: Officers call for personal protective equipment



Prisoner officers have called for personal protective equipment at their annual conference which continues in Sligo today.

Day two of the Prison Officers Association’s event gets underway this morning in the Radisson Hotel.

Figures shows there is more than two assaults a week on prison officer’s and last week an officers home was petrol bombed.

Speaking to Ocean FM, Assistant General Secretary of the POA Gabreil Keaveny, says at present officers do not carry batons and do not have pepper spray.
