Sligo’s longest-serving councillor says it’s immoral to have so many houses lying vacant in the midst of a housing crisis.
Independent Socialist candidate Declan Bree says the council should be using its powers of compulsory purchase top acquire empty houses.
Cllr Bree says he is not talking about seizing vacant dwellings but paying the market value to owners.
