MacSharry calls for urgent action to tackle housing crisis

A Sligo-Leitrim TD is calling on the government to cut down on the red tape for local authorities when applying for planning permission for housing.

Fianna Fail’s Deputy Marc MacSharry says it can sometimes take anything from three to six year from the time planning permission is lodged until building works are completed.

He also says the Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy must also address the increasing crisis of vulture funds buying up entire developments.

Deputy Mac Sharry is also suggesting disused retail units across the north west should be converted for residential use.
