Sligo win final home game of the season

Sligo’s senior men’s rugby season completed their regulation All-Ireland league Division 2B campaign on Saturday with a 36-34 win against relegated Sunday’s Well at Hamilton Park in Strandhill.

It was fitting that the points which clinched the win were kicked by Conor Mitchell, Sligo’s prolific front rower who was playing in his last home game captained the team one last time on Saturay. He will hang up his boots at the end of the season after 100+ games for Sligo over the last seven years.

The result confirmed Sunday’s Well relegation to Division 2C next season.

Paddy Pearson’s side now prepare for their promotion semi-final against Blackrock next Saturday (April 20th) in Dublin at 2:30pm. There will be live coverage of the game on Saturday Sportsbeat on Ocean FM.
