New hopes that St. Marys College will remain open



Campaigners to keep a Co. Sligo Secondary School open say the Minister for Education is committed to keeping it open.

The trustees of St. Mary’s College in Ballisodare – The Catholic Education Irish Schools Trusts or CESIT – have decided to close the school in three years time.

A delegation met with Minster Joe McHugh this afternoon in the Sligo City Hotel where he confirmed his commitment to the effort to get new patrons.

Local Independent Councillor and teacher in the school Marie Casserly says it’s means a lot to the whole community.

Local Fine Gael Election Candidate,Thomas Walsh says it’s fantastic news.
