Carthy: ‘Unification of Ireland the obvious solution to Brexit problems here’



A Midlands North West MEP says Sinn Fein will be stepping up its efforts to win support at all levels in the EU for a border poll on Irish unity.

Yesterday, the EU chief negotiator on Brexit was again told of the potential devastating economic, political and social impact that Brexit could have on communities, farmers, workers and businesses along the border.

During the meeting with Michel Barnier in Brussels, Sinn Fein MEPs Matt Carthy and Martina Anderson also emphasised the importance of safeguarding the Good Friday Agreement.

And they insisted that the obvious solution to the Brexit situation in Ireland is the reunification of the island through a border poll, and the continued inclusion of the north in the EU.
