Beef Plan Movement event to take place in Sligo this week

Farmers in Sligo are being invited to attend a meeting on the Beef Plan movement this week.

Members says the plan was created in the hope of saving and rejuvenating beef farming in Ireland.

The group has already over 20,000 thousand members nationally and hopes to grow this figure to 40,000 in the coming months.

They are seeking new and current members to attend an information event in the Sligo Park Hotel at 8:30pm this Sunday.

Chairperson in Sligo Gerry Pilkington says farmers are not happy with the stringent quality assurances checks that are in place for beef farmers.
