Saturday next is the national Shop & Drop Spree as thousands of shoppers leave their unwanted plastic packaging behind in supermarkets.
In Sligo, “the Sick of Plastic group” will be outside Tesco, asking the giant retailer to reduce single use plastics and unnecessary plastic packaging. Customers will be encouraged to sign a petition and will be asked to leave their plastic packaging with Tesco.
It’s the second year for the event to take place in Sligo
Local election candidate Sinead Maguire says the event is aimed to raise awareness of the over uses of plastics by Retailers and Consumers.
