More local election candidates enter race in Donegal and Manorhamilton districts



Two more candidates are to run in the local elections in Donegal and Leitrim.

Fine Gael development officer and former Seanad nominee John McNulty has been added as another candidate to the party ticket in the Donegal Municipal District.

He joins former veteran councillor John Boyle from Bruckless and newcomer Barry Sweeney from Ballyshannon.

More than 20 candidates will be seeking the public’s vote in this district on May 24th.

In Leitrim, community and environmental activist Jamie Murphy is to run as an Independent in the Manorhamilton Municipal District.

McNulty is self-employed in Carrick and Stranorlar, and is deeply involved with the GAA and local community development.

He has been telling Ocean FM News why her has decided to throw his hat in the ring.

A native of Sligo Town, the community and environmental campaigner has been living for the past 10 years in Manorhamilton, where he is a founding member and chairman of the Taobh Tire Arus Breffni residents’ association.

His mother’s family come from the Kinlough area of north Leitrim.

For the past three years, Jamie has been working part-time with the Sligo Travellers Support Group.

He has been telling Ocean FM News what made him decide to run as an Independent.
