There are calls for increased funding for CCTV to tackle illegal dumping in Sligo.
Local Fine Gael election candidate Blaine Gaffney says catching offenders in the process of committing the dumping is key to obtaining a prosecution.
He says illegal dumping is becoming a serious issue in a number of housing estates in recent weeks and says there is not enough prosecutions to deter the offenders.
Blaine Gaffney says he will be raising the issue with the Minister Housing and Local Government Eoghan Murphy.
