Stranorlar hospital campaigners want meeting with health minister

A group campaigning for the future of a community hospital in Stranorlar in Co. Donegal is seeking a meeting with the Minister for Health Simon Harris.

It was announced in 2016 that St Joseph’s Residential Care Unit would be replaced by a new public/private hospital in Letterkenny in 2021.

This decision was later overturned however the Save St Joseph’s Hospital Action Group say it is not confident the facility is secure.

Over 1500 people attended a demonstration in Stranorlar and Ballybofey organised by the group at the weekend.

Chairperson Fr John Joe Duffy says they may consider running a candidate in the Local Elections in May.
