5G operators urged not to ignore rural Ireland

Recent reports suggesting that comreg will not require 5G operators to provide rural coverage have been described as another major blow for rural Ireland.

Cavan Fianna Fáil County Councillor John Paul Feely says reports that 5G providers will not have to provide rural coverage and instead only have to provide guarantees that a percentage of the population is provided with the service leaves those in rural Ireland in real danger of being left behind.

Councillor Feely has called on local representatives to ensure that the 5G is provided to as many parts of the country as possible and that investment in infrastructure won’t just be confined to the main urban population bases
