Sligo lose to Offaly in Division 3

Sligo ended their Allianz League campaign without a win after they were beaten by Offaly in Collooney on Sunday on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-11.

Scores from Niall Murphy and the impressive Gerard O’Kelly Lynch has the home side leading at the break by 0-07 to 0-05.

Niall McNamee hit the net early in the second half to give Offaly a lead but this was short lived as O’Kelly Lynch replied with one of his own shortly after.

Sligo suffered a blow when talisman Niall Murphy was sent off for a second yellow card on 50 minutes. Despite the set back Paul Taylor’s side kept their noses in front up until the final stages but Niall McNamee’s accuracy from placed balls kept Offaly in touch and they struck late on for a decisive winner that keeps them in Division 3 by the skin of their teeth.

For Sligo it was a 7th defeat from 7 games and it will be Division 4 football for 2020 and time out to re-group before their Connacht Championship Semi Final on May 19th against either London or Galway.
