Donegal & Leitrim league finals fixed for Croke Park next Saturday

Donegal and Leitrim gaelic footballers will share a Croke Park national league final double bill at Croke Park next Saturday, March 30th when their respective Division 2 and 4 deciders will be played at 3pm and 5pm.

Leitrim’s Division 4 final against Derry will be first up at 3pm. The match will be live in full on Ocean FM with thanks to McManus Pharmacy, New Line, Manorhamilto.

That will be followed by Donegal’s Division 2 final against Meath at 5pm. Declan Bonner’s side booked their final place – and with it promotion to Division 1 next season – thanks to an inspired display against Kildare in Ballyshannon on Sunday which saw them run out emphatic winners by 1-20 to 0-10.

With a strong wind at their backs, Donegal established a 0-13 to 0-1 half-time lead and finished the game winning by thirteen points, with Jamie Brennan’s second-half goal emphasising Donegal’s dominance.

The game also saw Neil McGee equal Colm McFadden’s all-time record of 173 senior appearances for his county.

After the game, Donegal manager Declan Bonner confirmed that Paddy McBrearty has resumed full training again after recovering from the cruciate ligament injury which forced the Kilcar man to miss most of last year’s championship.

Meath secured their place in the final next Saturday after coming from behind to beat Fermanagh by 2-12 by 0-11 in a game which saw the Erne county rack up 17 wides.
