Construction of new N4 to create 250 jobs

The managing director of the civil engineering and construction company now building the new €100m N4 dual carriageway between Collooney and Castlebaldwin says its one of their most significant projects.

Roadbridge, based in Limerick, expects people will be travelling on the new road in about two years time.

Managing Director Conor Gilligan says that at peak, about 250 people will be employed onsite.

The job will also have spin-off benefits for numerous local businesses, including suppliers and specialist sub-contractors.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Mr Gilligan told how the importance of the job really struck him when he first saw the white crosses along the roadway, representing about 30 people who lost their lives on the dangerous route in the past three decades.
