Leitirm County Councillors have been told a number of housing estates in the county can’t be taken in charge by the local authority until the contractors have completed necessary works.
The council had hoped to commence the public consultation process in January of this year, but this has been delayed due the potential exposure of the local authority to public liability claims.
The review into the public liability exposures has now been completed and the council has confirmed it can now proceed with taking in charge of some of the estates.
However a number of estates will have to wait until contractors are engaged to undertake the necessary works to complete the projects.
Fianna Fail Councillor and local election candidate Justin Warnock says residents are frustrated waiting to see which estates can be taken in charge in the coming months by the council.
