Consultants Association express concern over failure to fill north west posts

The Irish Hospital Consultants Association says it’s concerned over the ongoing failure to fill posts at Sligo and Letterkenny university hospitals.

A survey of about 900 consultants around the country has shown that one-in-five permanent posts are vacant or filled on a temporary basis.

The consultants’ association says this is leading to a drop in standard of patient are and that services cannot be sustained unless the posts are filled.

Martin Varley, of the association, has been telling Ocean FM News about the situation in Sligo and Letterkenny university hospitals.
