Fianna Fail select North West/Midlands candidate for upcoming European Parliament election

Fianna Fail members have selected their candidate for the upcoming European Elections for the Midlands North West constituency.

Current Cavan/Monaghan TD Brendan Smith was selected from nine candidates yesterday at the Longford Arms Hotel, Longford Town.

Deputy Smith has served since 1992 and was a cabinet Minister during this time.

Speaking at the convention, Deputy Smith said he was ‘honoured’ to have been selected, further stating that the ‘region has been without a Fianna Fail voice in Brussels and Strasbourg for too long.’
