Domiciliary Care Allowance: TD welcomes changes in relation to payment

A Sligo/Leitrim TD is welcoming changes to the payment of a special allowance for children with disability.

It’s in cases of joint custody of children where there is a dispute over who gets the Domiciliary Care Allowance.

It has now been decided that the payment will go to an agreed nominated parent or, where there is no such agreement, to the parent who receives child benefit or the children’s allowance payment.

Fianna Fail Deputy Eamon Scanlon says it’s an important payment for people who may be in sensitive and difficult situations.
