Councillor moves to allay fears over Donegal x-ray services

A South Donegal councillor says people in the areas served by Donegal Town and Killybegs community hospitals will continue to be provided with a full x-ray service.

It follows recent concern about the service after a radiographer submitted their resignation, leading to fears that the position will not be advertised until the post becomes vacant.

HSE Donegal Community Radiology Services have confirmed that a resignation has been received and that this position is in the process of being filled.

The HSE added that continuity of this service will not be impacted due to this resignation.

In June 2017, it was announced that Donegal and Killybegs community hospitals were among four in the county to benefit from a total allocation of €900,000 to improve their x-ray units.

This morning, Independent Councillor Tom Conaghan told Ocean FM News he wanted to allay any fears about the future of the service.

And he says people from Killybegs and Donegal Town areas will not have to travel to Sligo or Letterkenny for appointments.
