Finn Harps lose out in seven-goal thriller

Finn Harps wait for their first league win of the new SSE Aitricity League Premier Division season continues after they lost 4-3 to Cork City in a thrilling game in Ballybofey on Friday night.

Gearóid Morrissey scored twice for Cork City in a match which saw the leesiders come from behind twice.

Former Sligo Rovers player Caolan McAleer gave Harps the lead in the opening two minutes before Conor McCarthy equalised for John Caulfield’s side.

Harps, who had the better of the first half, went in front again when Mark Coyle converted McAleer’s cross.

Back came Cork and Morrisey scored a superb second for the visitors on the stroke of half-time.

Second-half goals from Morrisey again and Graham Cummins 20 minutes from the end gave Cork a 4-2 lead.

But Harps rallied again with Raff Cretaro’s goal on 81 minutes setting up a dramatic finale. However, the home side were unable to find a fourth goal – and City held on to take all three points.
