Eurovision winner McGettigan supports boycott of this year’s contest



A protest is taking place outside RTÉ studios calling for a boycott of the Eurovision.

The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign is appealing for RTÉ and singer Sarah McTernan not to take part in the contest because it’s being held in the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv.

Former Eurovision winner Charlie McGettigan explains why he supports the protest:

Meanwhile the Sligo Palestine Solidarity Campaign is supporting calls for a boycott of the Eurovision.

Sligo Local Election candidate and spokesperson for the campaign in Sligo Corey Whyte says there is a number of reasons why people should not support the competition.
