Taoiseach, ministers, army and diplomats to be part of National Famine commemoration in Sligo



The Taoiseach, government ministers, army personnel and ambassadors from around the world will be Sligo on May 19th next for the National Famine Commemoration.

It’s particularly poignant that the event takes place in Sligo, it being a port town from which many left during the Famine on the first leg of their voyages to various parts of the world.

Detailed preparations are currently being made but Sligo County Council Director of Services Bartley Gavin gave Ocean FM News a brief outline of what the event will entail:
