McDermott wants Leitrim to be included in Geo Park

A Leitrim councillor is calling for the northern part of the county to be part of the UNESCO recognised geopark that includes attractions such as the Marble Arch caves in County Fermanagh.

Fine Gael Councillor Sean McDermott says north Leitrim would benefit in many ways from being included in the geo park, which is an area of geological heritage that has international significance.

Cllr McDermott insists it’s an idea worth pursuing in the years to come.
