Sligo council urged to review income limits for social housing

There are calls for Sligo County Council to review the income limits set for eligibility for social housing.

The current income threshold begins at €25,000 for a single person and increases to €30,000 depending on the household size.

Income levels for people to be eligible for social housing have not been reviewed since 2011.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Keith Henry, who raised the issue at a recent meeting of Sligo County Council, says while he agrees there should be some income limit he says it should take in account the increased cost of living.
