Revenue stalls VAT increase on vitamins & food supplements

The last minute decision by Revenue to delay placing a 23 percent VAT rate on vitamins and food supplements until November has been given warm welcome by vitamin users and retailers of the product across the north west.

The increase was due to be introduced this Friday, but was met with widespread opposition from people claiming it could potentially have negative impacts on their health.

Fine Gael’s Local Election Candidate in the Sligo  Strandhill  Municipal District, Blaine Gaffney, says the proposed increase caused great concern for those that avail of vitamins for health reasons and from suppliers of the products in the local region.
