Leitrim Councillor calls for construction to halt on Children’s Hospital

Calls were made on the Minister for Health, Simon Harris to halt the construction at the national Children’s hospital at the St James site at yesterday’s Manorhamilton Municipal District meeting of Leitrim County Council.

The calls were made by Fianna Fáil Councillor Justin Warnock.

Councillor Warnock outlined how the project has gone completely out of control and also aired concerns over the location of the project and feels that the money could be used to fund other health related projects.

It’s also emerged that new documents show questions about whether the state could afford the new National Children’s Hospital were raised by one of the boards responsible for building it.

This time for a sub-committee of the board overseeing the project.

The board also predicted rising costs would make things difficult for capital spending in health – weeks before the budget.
